George Dye
Associate Music Director & Conductor
George Dye’s musical journey has been shaped by a rich blend of cultures and traditions. Born in Utah, he spent part of his childhood in South America and part of his young adult years in Europe, experiences that immersed him in diverse musical landscapes ranging from the classical masterworks of Bach and Mozart to the vibrant folk music of Cape Verde, Portugal, and Chile. This global perspective continues to inform his work as a conductor, performer, and educator.
George discovered his musical talents early, excelling as both a singer and a brass player during his teenage years. His dedication earned him an Instrumental Performance scholarship to Snow College, where he began formal studies in music using the trumpet he continues to play to this day. He went on to complete degrees in both Music and Business Administration, combining artistry with leadership and organizational skill.
A versatile performer, George is equally at home in the concert hall and on stage. He has played numerous instruments in orchestral and chamber settings, while also captivating audiences in leading theatrical roles, including Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rooster in Annie, and Bob Cratchit in Scrooge!. His creative work extends to the recording studio, where he contributes regularly as a voice actor and vocalist under the pseudonym George Tintura.
In addition to his performance career, George has distinguished himself as a teacher and conductor. He directed band programs at American Preparatory Academy, led several local choirs, and conducted pit orchestras for acclaimed productions such as Fiddler on the Roof. His ability to inspire both seasoned musicians and young performers has become a hallmark of his leadership.
In March 2014, George was appointed Associate Music Director of the West Valley Symphony of Utah. In this role, he brings his global influences, performance expertise, and collaborative spirit to the podium, enriching the orchestra’s sound and strengthening its connection to the community.
Whether guiding a symphony, performing on stage, or lending his voice to recordings, George Dye’s artistic career reflects his lifelong belief that music is a universal language with the power to inspire, connect, and uplift.
