Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzon A12

This is Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzon a12 (XVI Ch. 208) written in 1612, published posthumously in 1615.

A modal piece with 3 antiphonal choirs of brass players, this piece is a 15th century gem. If you listen with headphones you can hear the positioning of the three choirs playing across from each other.

Maestro Donny Gilbert conducts the musicians of the West Valley Symphony of Utah.
