This amazing line-up of performers will kick-off your holiday season with beloved Christmas favorites the whole family will enjoy! \n  \n            This year’s featured guest artists Eclipse6 are no strangers to Utah’s music scene!  The group enjoys a good balance of secular pop tunes\, Christmas songs\, and gospel music; all chosen with a desire to inspire others to greatness. Most songs have corresponding music videos found on the group’s YouTube page. The recent Christmas hits\, Hamildolph and The Greatest Snowman\, went viral by Christmas\, Hamilton\, and Greatest Showman lovers alike. Over the years the group has received many awards including first place in Regional Harmony Sweepstakes\, “Best Vocal Group” in Utah’s Best of State awards\, “Group Recording Artist of the Year” and “Holiday Album of the Year” by the Faith Centered Music Association Pearl Awards\, “Best Holiday Album” in the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards\, and more. The greatest award though goes to the fans\, who allow the group to do what they love. \n  \nThe West Valley Symphony of Utah\, with music director Donny Gilbert\, is well known for their participation in the KUTV Holiday Pops Concert. The 70-piece orchestra performs 5-6 concerts each year. SUMMARY:Days of '47 KUTV Virtual Pops Concert
DESCRIPTION:The COVID pandemic has shuttered hundreds of public events\, but one organization has found a way to keep the tradition alive. The Days of ’47 KUTV Pops Concert\, normally held in Abravanel Hall\, will go online this year starting July 11th. \nIt wasn’t easy to put together. “The talented people involved in this concert stepped into a new world\,” said Sterling Poulson\, director of the Choral Arts Society of Utah\, which will be performing. “Many for the first time had to sing or play alone\, and at the same time follow a video of me conducting a recording of the piece in their ear while recording their performance. Over 100 musicians stepped firmly\, as technology pioneers\, into the 21st Century.” \nThe Choral Arts Society will be joined by the West Valley Symphony under the baton of Maestro Donny Gilbert. The program will include patriotic favorites and a tribute to the caregivers and responders on the pandemic front lines\, “Who Are the Brave?” \nBesides recording\, putting it all together presented a challenge of its own. According to Poulson\, the concert comprises over 400 separate videos expertly blended and mixed\, a process that took nearly two weeks using the most powerful technology available. \nThe Days of ’47 KUTV Pops Concert\, now in its 73rd year\, is known for its guest stars\, and this year’s online version will be no exception. Joining the virtual venue will be Voice Male. With 26 years of performances and 12 albums\, Voice Male has is known as Utah’s favorite a cappella comedy group. \n“This virtual concert has been a wonderful opportunity to unite as a choir and use technology to reach out and give to our community in a time of quarantine\,” said CASU president Spencer Mark.

Miller family hosts a free Christmas concert featuring special musical group The Bon \nner Family and emceed by the multi-talented Jason Hewlett. \nThis year’s performance marks the 34th year for the holiday community event. The Christmas Carole Sing-Along will feature the 60-piece West Valley Symphony of Utah conducted by Donny Gilbert. Sterling Poulson returns this year as the guest conductor. \nThe special musical group\, The Bonner Family\, is one of the most talented families working in music today. Comprised of parents Debra and Harry along with their eight children\, The Bonner Family’s expertly crafted vocal harmonies and rich\, soulful sounds will fill Vivint Smart Home Arena with music that creates an atmosphere of peace\, unity\, and joy. \nPerformer\, entertainer\, and celebrated host Jason Hewlett will serve as this year’s emcee. Author and a member of the Speakers Hall of Fame\, Jason will bring his vast talents of humor\, music\, and authenticity to the Christmas Carole Sing-Along stage. \nAdmission is free of charge\, and \nthe public is welcome. No tickets are necessary\, and all seating is general admission. DESCRIPTION:This year’s KUTV Holiday Pops Concert with music director Sterling Poulson\, will feature the 100-voice Choral Arts Society of Utah\, and the West Valley Symphony of Utah kicking off your holiday season with beloved Christmas favorites the whole family will enjoy! \nOur featured Guest Artist this year is Jason Lyle Black. “The Backwards Piano Man®”\, is an award-winning pianist\, composer\, entertainer\, and speaker\, known for his performance on the Ellen Show and for his 30 million music video views worldwide. Black entered the music industry in 2004 with a self-produced album of original music\, Flood of Keys.  Five years later\, he made his debut on YouTube and began performing and speaking to business and community audiences. In 2015\, Black created a music video of Disney’s Frozen that went on to be featured by Huffington Post\, Good Morning America\,  and other national news outlets.  This video was followed by a music video of Pixar’s UP that also reached millions worldwide. The following year\, Black released Piano Preludes\, an album of original music\, with label Stone Angel Music and producer Paul Cardall\, which debuted at #1 on iTunes and #2 on the Billboard music charts.  Critics called Piano Preludes “masterful…overflowing with grace\, reverence\, and heart.” \nThe West Valley Symphony of Utah\, with music director Donny Gilbert\, is well known for their participation in the KUTV Holiday Pops Concert. The 70-piece orchestra performs 5-6 concerts each year generally at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. The orchestra will perform at the Larry H. & Gail Miller Christmas Carole Sing-a-long at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City\, December 17\, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.  The event is free to the public \nMembers of the 100-voice Choral Arts Society of Utah volunteer their time and talents to provide quality performances\, many of which benefit schools and organizations providing humanitarian services to the local area\, including this benefit concert for the KUTV 2News Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.  The concert provides gifts of the season to hundreds of children and senior citizens along the Wasatch Front.  This is a wonderful family event for all ages and we will have a special visit from Santa Claus! \nWe wish to thank the Sorenson Legacy Foundation and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation for their continued financial support.  We also thank KUTV 2News for their media support. funds from the Salt Lake County Zoo Arts & Parks are also used in the presentation of this concert.
